Iowa State to host WVU on ABC-TV
AMES — Iowa State will play host to West Virginia on Friday, Nov. 23, the day after Thanksgiving. The game will kickoff at 2:30 p.m. on ABC-TV.
“We are elated to be in such a great time slot on a day when people all over the country are watching college football,” Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads said. “I’m excited that Cyclone football will again be getting such widespread exposure.”
The Cyclones have never played West Virginia, a new member of the Big 12 Conference.
The game will also bring Mt. Pleasant native Dana Holgorsen, the head coach of the Mountaineers, back to his home state.
Holgorsen has been to Ames twice during his coaching career, according to the West Virginia Athletics website. He made trips there as an assistant at Texas Tech and Oklahoma State, but this is his first trip there as a head coach.
West Virginia is now 5-5 on the year with two games left to play. They host Kansas on Dec. 1 to end the regular season.
After winning the first five games of the season, Holgorsen and the Mountaineers are now looking to snap a five-game losing streak on their trip to Ames.
Iowa State has a 6-5 record going into Friday, which is its last game of the regular season. The Cyclones played Kansas last weekend and defeated the Jayhawks, 51-23.
