Irvin L. White
Irvin L. White, 79, of Mt. Pleasant and formerly of Ottumwa, died Friday, May 3, 2013 at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.
There will be no formal funeral service. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, at the Kimzey Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant. The family will be present to receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Those considering an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the family.
He was born Feb. 16, 1934, in Ursa, Adams County, Ill. He was the son of Earl J. and Leilia (nee Phillips) White. He attended school in Ottumwa. He married Joann Elaine Hall. The couple later divorced. On July 10, 1981, he married Betty Jean Chance Craig Ellis.
He began working for the James Dickel Farm. He then worked for the Dowby Refuse Service in Ottumwa. For many years, he worked in the Freezer Department of the former John Morrell Meat Packing Company in Ottumwa. He retired in 1972. He attended the Bible Missionary Church in Mt. Pleasant. He enjoyed gardening and the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife of Mt. Pleasant; four sons, Ricky White, John White, Joseph White and Dean White, all of Ottumwa; two daughters, Rhonda (Roger) Kenney of Ottumwa and Robecca (Jim) Richards of Milesburg, Pa.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Kenneth White; and two sisters, Eileen Hall and Joyce Beach.
