IW men top Westminster
The game at Ruble Area on Saturday proved to be a “Senior Night” worth remembering for the Iowa Wesleyan Tigers, as the men’s basketball team defeated the Westminster College Blue Jays, 79-61.
CJ Singletary led the Tiger’s attack on the Blue Jays. Singletary recorded 20 total points, going 8-12 from the floor, with 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals.
Blue Jays’ Romo Tabb led Westminster’s offense by scoring 22 points with 6 rebounds. Sean O’Brien recorded 12 points, while Tanner Cochran also added 10 points to the Blue Jays attack. Jimmy Villalobos also help the Blue Jays defense by recording eight rebounds.
For the Tigers, Steven Soukup amassed 13 total points with 12 rebounds, while Brock Butler added 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists. Mitch Drey also added 7 points and 5 rebounds.
The Tigers advance to 15-8 on the year. On Wednesday, February 15, 2017, tip-off is at 8 p.m. against Fontbonne University in the Ruble Arena, and it will be the Tigers final regular season home game of the year.
