IWC choir to perform works by Byrd, Martini and Ticheli
The Iowa Wesleyan College Choir, under the direction of Dr. Bradley Miller, will present its 2014 spring tour home concert on Sunday, April 6 at 3 p.m.
The concert will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 309 North Main Street in Mt. Pleasant.
The concert precedes the choir’s annual tour. It will feature a wide variety of musical selections, including works by William Byrd, Giovanni Martini and Frank Ticheli.
The IWC Broad Street connection, a select vocal jazz ensemble, will also perform several jazz pieces. Margaret Runaas, instructor of piano at IWC, will perform Brahms Intermezzo, Op. 76, No. 7 and she and Dr. Joel Brown, emeritus professor of music will collaborate on the performance of a piano duet by Dvořák.
The Concert Choir, one of seven performing ensembles at the college, tours domestically every spring and has toured internationally twice in recent years.
The choir is comprised of 30 singers, representing a wide variety of majors offered at the college. Twelve of the members are music majors.
Dr. Bradley Miller joined the IWC faculty as director of choral and vocal activities in the fall of 2011.
