IWC football picked 7th in preseason poll
The Iowa Wesleyan College football team is ranked No. 7 of 10 teams in its first year as part of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC). The Tigers received 29 points in the coaches’ preseason poll. The College of St. Scholastic is slated as the No. 1 team in the poll, receiving five first place votes and 76 points.
The Tigers enter the new era of the program, looking to a small but strong core of veterans to lead the team while looking for several newcomers to make an impact early as well.
“We’re in a building stage and a solid foundation is stated to be in place this year,” said Head Coach Tom Parkevich. “We will be very young, but the future looks bright and our players are expecting to win. Because we’re young, we’ll make some mistakes due to our inexperience, but our main goal is to be competitive every Saturday and give ourselves a chance to come away with a win.”
