IWC men make mark at season opener
GALESBURG, Ill. — The Iowa Wesleyan College track and field team opened up its 2014 season Saturday at the Knox College Fire Starter Invitational.
There were no team scores for the first meet.
The Tigers had four top-five marks in school history and had 10 personal bests to start the year.
All four finishes that will make the school record books came on the men’s side of the team.
The men’s 4x400-meter relay team of Raul Becerril, Anthony Harris, Jake Ayers and Michael Klostermann finished in 3:33.30, the second-fastest time recorded in IWC school history.
Troy Hallberg’s 40-9 weight throw was No. 3 on the all-time list, and so was Harris’ 400-meter time of 52.57 seconds.
Klostermann finished the 400 in 53.16 seconds for the No. 4 spot on the school’s all-time list for that event.
