IWC men’s basketball falls to USD
The Iowa Wesleyan College men's basketball team played its third game against an NCAA DI opponent, taking on the University of South Dakota on Saturday.
The Tigers fell 86-52 to the Coyotes.
Murray Schwengels led IWC offensively with 13 points on 6-of-14 shooting.
Will Stephenson and Cameron Caudle each added nine points for the Tigers. Stephenson was 3-of-6 from the floor while Caudle was a perfect 3-for-3.
The Tigers shot the ball well, hitting 41.2 percent of their shots from the floor and knocking down 37.5 percent of their attempts from beyond the arc.
The bench played strong for the Tigers, matching the Coyotes' bench with 34 points in the game.
The Tigers had a tough time matching the size of the Coyotes, though, as the purple and white were out-rebounded 43-24. The Tigers were outscored 54-14 in the paint as well.
The Tigers return to action on Thursday, Jan. 9, when they host Principia College.
Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. in Ruble Arena.
