IWC plays at 36-hole tourney
The IWC men's golf team took part in the Mt. Mercy 36 Tournament — a one-day, 36-hole tournament — earlier this week, shooting their best team round of the year, 642 on the day.
It was a tough field, as the Tigers finished sixth overall out of six teams, falling just one stroke behind Viterbo University.
Mt. Mercy University won the tournament with a 599, two strokes ahead of runner-up Grand View University.
Tanner Travis led Iowa Wesleyan, finishing in a tie for 13th overall. He shot 76 on the first 18 holes and a 77 on the last 18.
Trent Hoekstra finished 20th overall, shooting back-to-back 81s. Blake Mitchell shot an 87 on the first 18, but bounced back with a 76 to finish just behind Hoekstra in 21st.
Patrick Zielinski and Michael Neff also competed for the Tigers. Zielinski tied for 22nd overall (80, 84) while Neff finished 30th (89, 84).
The Tigers return to action on Sunday in the MacMurray Invitational.
