IWC soccer shut out
The Iowa Wesleyan College soccer teams suffered a pair of big losses on Wednesday at Illinois College. The women were shut out for the third game in a row, 10-0, and the men were shut out for the fourth time this season, 13-0.
In the women's game, the Lady Blues wasted no time jumping on top, as they scored just 25 seconds into the match. They never relented, scoring five goals in each half.
The Lady Blues outshot the Tigers 23-4. Caitlin O'Neil made eight saves in the net for the Tigers, who fall to 1-4 on the year.
In the men's game, the Tigers held off the Blueboys a bit longer. But once Illinois College found the back of the net 11:55 into the game, they couldn't be stopped. The Tigers found themselves with a 7-0 deficit at the half and Illinois College then added six more goals in the last 45 minutes.
The IWC men were outshot 48-5. Caleb Winston made 13 saves in the net for the Tigers. The IWC men fall to 0-7 on the year.
Both IWC teams return to action on Saturday when they host Fontbonne College in their first conference action of the season. The men start at 1 p.m. at East Lake Park and the women follow at 3 p.m.
