IWC softball still waiting to get on home field
Fans are going to have to wait a little bit longer to see the Iowa Wesleyan College softball team play on its home field, as the recent rain and snow have been wreaking havoc on the softball diamond.
The Tigers were supposed to play their home opener today against Hannibal-LaGrange, but it was postponed until April 17, and the game they were supposed to play at Mapleleaf Athletic Complex on Tuesday against Culver-Stockton has been moved to Canton, Mo., due to wet fields in Mt. Pleasant.
“I have not stepped on the field, because I would sink in,” the IWC softball coach and athletic director, Mike Hampton, said.
The Tigers’ next home game is scheduled for Wednesday, March 27, against Coe College, and Hampton hopes that some sunshine, higher temperatures and wind will have the field ready for them by then.
