IWC swept by Clarke
DUBUQUE — The Iowa Wesleyan College volleyball team had its two-game win streak snapped by Clarke University on Tuesday night.
The host Crusaders made quick work of the Tigers, defeating IWC in three sets: 25-13, 25-9, 25-14.
Marissa Bozik and Dakota Flesner led the Tigers' attack, each recording five kills in the match. Lindsey Johnson had 11 assists and six digs on the night.
The Tigers struggled offensively, recording 16 attack errors against the Crusaders. After starting out 1-1 in the first set, the Crusaders used a 9-3 run to build a cushion that proved too much for the Tigers.
The Crusaders did struggle serving against the Tigers, recording six service errors to the Tigers' three errors on the serve. But Clarke countered that with seven aces as well, while the Tigers managed just two aces in the match.
The loss drops the Tigers to 3-9 overall. The Tigers return to action on Thursday when they host Monmouth College at 7 p.m.. The Tigers and Fighting Scots had an epic battle in their first head-to-head match up earlier this season, going five sets with the Fighting Scots coming out on top.
