IWC to conduct collection drive Monday as part of Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service
Iowa Wesleyan College students and staff will be collecting donations for the Fellowship Cup on Monday, Jan. 21, as part of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service
Volunteers will be at Hy-Vee from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. to accept donations.
The collection drive will focus on personal care items and toiletries. The items most needed by the Fellowship Cup are deodorant and toilet paper but any hygiene and personal care items will be accepted.
The event is sponsored by the service-learning office at IWC
The Corporation for National and Community Service leads the annual MLK Day of Service, working with the King Center in Atlanta and thousands of nonprofit groups, faith-based organizations, schools and businesses nationwide.
The annual event was designed to honor Dr. Martin Luther King’s legacy.
For more than 40 years, service has been an integral part of the IWC education. Service opportunities are incorporated into the curriculum and available through campus organizations. All students complete service projects prior to graduation.
