IWC volleyball falls to top-ranked Panthers
The Iowa Wesleyan College Tigers’ volleyball team went toe-to-toe with the No. 1 team in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in Greenville College on Tuesday night.
The Tigers gave the Panthers a run, but fell in three sets (25-20, 25-20, 25-18).
The Tigers recorded 39 kills in the match, with Marissa Bozik and Dakota Flesner accounting for 12 kills each on the night. The Panthers countered with a strong attack of their own, however, tallying 46 kills to take the win.
The Tigers played strong defensively, as five Tigers recorded double-digit digs. Cierra Howard led the Tigers with 18 digs, while Logan Chiri added 15. Kara Dennell had 14 digs, while Lindsey Johnson and Flesner both had 13 digs to slow the Panthers attack. As a team, the Tigers had 79 digs, while the Panthers had 47.
The loss drops the Tigers to 9-17 overall and 5-6 in conference action. Greenville moves to 18-4 overall and remains undefeated (11-0) in the SLIAC.
