Jensen honored with reception
Mt. Pleasant Community High School hosted an open house reception at Mt. Pleasant Golf and Country Club on Wednesday night in honor of Activities Director Bob Jensen, who is retiring at the end of year.
In the photo, Jensen, left, shakes the hand of the Mt. Pleasant mayor, Steve Brimhall, during the reception.
“It was a very nice gesture on behalf of the school to host the open house,” Jensen said.
Jensen has been in education for 40 years, and he served as a teacher, coach and AD at Mt. Pleasant for 39 of those years.
“It was great to see former teachers and peers of mine (at the reception) — the clientele at the school has gotten really young the last few years!” Jensen laughed. “It was nice of them to come out and say hi. It was a great evening for me and (my wife) Carolyn. We really appreciate it.”
Jensen’s contract officially ends on June 18, but the contract for the new activities director, Scot Lamm, does not start until August. Therefore, Jensen says, he will probably continue to do some work with the baseball and softball teams through the end of their seasons.
“For rainouts and such, someone has to take care of things, and we don’t have any plans to get out of town,” Jensen said.
