Joey Lee Hamm
Joey Lee Hamm, 35, of Rome and formerly of Oakville, and Thompson, Ill., died Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, of cancer.

He was born Aug. 18, 1978, in Burlington. He was the son of Floyd Lee and Vickey Lee (nee Robertson) Hamm. He was raised in Thompson, Ill. where he attended school.
On Oct. 12, 2011, he married Mindy Rea Bartels.
He previously lived in Oakville and worked as an installer of field tile. He has been a resident of Rome for the past nine years. For the past eight years, he has been employed at Veyance Technologies in Mt. Pleasant.
He was a Chicago Bears fan. He followed Dale Earnhardt, Jr. in NASCAR. He enjoyed watching survivor shows and Duck Dynasty on television. He enjoyed the outdoors as he hunted and fished for catfish on the Iowa, Skunk and Mississippi rivers.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Austin Hunter Hamm at home in Rome; his mother; and three sisters, Tena Smith of Kentucky, April Hamm and Laura (John) Hand of Morning Sun.
He is preceded in death by his father.
