Joseph C. Bransby, 99, died Monday, June 23, 2014.
Funeral services will be on Monday, June 30, at 10 a.m. at the Sheridan Cemetery in rural Mt. Union with full military honors.

He was born in Margaretville, N.Y., on May 13, 1915, to the Rev. Carson Bransby and his wife Lillian. The family moved to the Midwest. He completed his public schooling in Council Bluffs and graduated from Parsons College in Fairfield. He was married to Louise Bransby. She preceded him in death.
He was the CEO of the YMCA of Metro Atlanta from 1962-1980. He was a trustee of the YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly in Black Mountain, N.C.
He wrote and published Westward Wings the Hawk.
A lay leader at Decatur Presbyterian Church since the late 1960’s, he also taught Sunday School. He had been a Rotary member since 1946.
He is survived by four children, Kit Bransby, Judi Unwin, Janis Belardinelli, and Mike Bransby; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
