Julia Ann Scurr, 55, Coralville, died in her home on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Carol Sundberg officiating at the New Horizons Methodist Church, 2251 First Avenue, Coralville. Private burial will be in the Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. Her family will greet friends Saturday from 9:30 to 11:00 am at New Horizons Methodist Church in Coralville. Memorials may be directed to the Iowa Department of the Blind. Lensing Funeral Service in Iowa City is handling arrangements.

Born on Sept. 18, 1957, in Macomb, Ill., she was the daughter of Jerome and Bonnie (McClain) Patterson. She married David Scurr on Dec. 8, 1984.
She graduated from Linn Mar High School in Marion, in 1975, received a Bachelor of Science in Therapeutic Recreation at Western Kentucky University and received two Master’s Degrees from the University of Iowa.
She was a Commission for the Blind board member. She was also key in the establishment of a hospice program for the Iowa Department of Corrections at Oakdale.
She is survived by her parents of Hernando, Fla.; one brother, Paul (Janet) Patterson of Zephyr Hills, Fla.; two sisters, Catherine Patterson of Merriam, Kan., and Deanna (Jeff) Humphrey of Romeo, Miss.; two step-daughters, Shannon (Matt) Oetken of Middletown and Samantha (Adam) Cohen of Memphis, Tenn.; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
