Junior varsity girls have great week

The Mt. Pleasant girls’ junior varsity basketball team went 3-0 over a five-day span ending last week.
The Panthers played a tight game with Central Lee on Dec. 17, eventually walking away with a 45-35 win. They crushed Davis County, 42-13, on Dec. 20, and West Burlington, 64-23, two days later.
Lydia Stewart led Mt. Pleasant with 18 points in the win over Central Lee. Sadie Carrasco had eight points and five rebounds and Jess Haukedahl had six points and five rebounds of her own.
Isabel Ashton scored five points in the win. Taylor Murray had four points and led the team with five assists, three blocks and three steals. Alyssa Striegel scored two points and Grace Bittle had two points and five rebounds.
Murray had a monster game against Davis County, leading the Panthers in four categories, with 13 points, eight assists, four blocks and three steals. Stewart scored 10 points and led Mt. Pleasant with five rebounds.
Carrasco finished with eight points against the Mustangs. Bittle scored six. Ashton had three and Haukedahl scored two.
Stats aren’t yet available for Mt. Pleasant’s win over West Burlington. The Panthers are now 5-2 and are scheduled to play at Solon on Monday, Jan. 2, at 6 p.m.
