Justin "Smitty" Smith
Justin “Smitty” Smith, 31, Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, from injuries sustained in a snowmobile accident.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, at the First United Methodist Church, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, at the First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Brad Gillis and Deborah Stowers officiating. Born Sept. 1, 1982, in Mt. Pleasant, he was the son of Rick C. and Janet Michelle (Taglauer) Smith. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant Community High School in 2001. He was engaged to Tiffany Manning.
Upon graduation, he worked at Batey Ltd. He started his own business called Smitty’s Power Sports.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and four wheelers. During the winter months he enjoyed snowmobiling. He was a member of the Skunk River Bandits.
Survivors include his fiancée; three daughters, Justis, Jaydin and Jersie Smith all of Mt. Pleasant; his parents, Rick Smith and Janet Smith of Mt. Pleasant; a sister, Allison (Dagan Whaley) Smith of Mt. Pleasant; a brother, Caleb Smith of Mt. Pleasant; his grandparents, Richard and Karen Taglauer of Wayland and James and Rosemary Smith of Mt. Pleasant.
