Brandan and Kate Shelman of West Des Moines celebrated the birth of their daughter, Kaiya Olivia Shelman, on Jan. 8 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

She weighed 8 pounds, 15 ounces and was 21 1/2 inches long at birth.
