Kay (Mangold) Johnson Stigers
Kay (Mangold) Johnson Stigers, 70, West Chester, died Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at Parkview Manor in Wellman.
Funeral services were to be held today, Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 10 a.m. at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. Burial will follow at the West Chester Cemetery. Visitation was held Monday, Sept. 2. A general memorial fund has been established.
She was born Dec. 8, 1942, in Washington, and was the daughter of Stanley F. and Betty (McCartney) Mangold. She attended Dutch Creek rural school and West Chester High School. On Aug. 21, 1965, she married Paul Johnson. He preceded her in death. She married Fred Stigers on Dec. 5, 2009. She worked as a waitress for many years, auto body for 12 years in Iowa City, cook at the Washington Care Center, managed Daylight Doughnuts in Washington and later worked at and retired from Civco in Kalona. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking, watching birds, feeding squirrels and humming birds, the Iowa Hawkeys and country and gospel music.
She is survived by her husband of West Chester; three children, Jim White of Washington, Sherry (Bruce) Swailes of West Chester, Jo (Poe) and Doug Pratt of Kalona; step-children, Paula Shafer of Coppock, Connie (Johnson) Rockhold of Washington, Paul “Pee Wee” Johnson, Jr. of Washington, Ron (Lori) Stigers of Cloquet, Minn., Daniel (Deb) Stigers of Washington, Fran Stigers of Washington, Pam Calhoun of Manson of Washington; grandchildren; step-grandchildren; a brother, Richard “Dick” (Linda) Mangold of Washington.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her first husband; one brother, Bill Mangold; three step-daughters, Linda Crossett, Vera Wagenknecht, Paula Kirfman; and two grandchildren.
