Kirkwood awards area students scholarships
Kirkwood Community College has announced scholarship awards for the upcoming academic year. The scholarships are administered by the Kirkwood Foundation and made possible through the generosity of individuals, companies and organizations who wish to invest in the future through Kirkwood student success.
The Foundation plans to award a record $2.6 million in donated and endowed support for approximately 1,300 students in the 2013-14 academic year.
Recent Kirkwood scholarship winners from this area include:
• Katelyn McArtor was awarded the Henry B and Patricia B Tippie Beef Education Endowed Scholarship in the amount of $2,000. McArtor is a graduate of Winfield-Mt. Union High School and is the daughter of Kenneth and Brooke McArtor. This scholarship will support her studies in the agriculture production management program.
• James Miller was awarded the Thomas F. and Brenda R. Moore Endowed Scholarship in the amount of $940. Miller is a graduate of Winfield-Mt. Union High School and is the son of Paul and Barb Miller. He and his wife, Barbara, and two children live in Cedar Rapids. This scholarship will support his studies in the culinary arts program.
