Lanphier picks up 3 wins at Linn-Mar
The Mt. Pleasant team went 0-5 in their duals at the Linn-Mar Invite on Saturday.
The Panthers, struggling with injury, did not fare well as a team at the tournament, falling to Clinton (78-3), Xavier (47-24), Mt. Vernon (71-6), Mediapolis (72-12) and Marion (45-22). However, individual Panthers picked up a few wins — including Tyler Lanphier, who won three matches.
Lanphier pinned Mediapolis’ Remmington Benz in 4:42, pinned Marion’s Mason Hiler in 1:21 and won by a 5-2 decision against Riley Chapman of Clinton.
The 132-pounder was the only Panther wrestler to win against Clinton, but other Mt. Pleasant wrestlers claimed wins in the rest of the day’s duals.
Conner Eads pinned Xavier’s Joseph Mulangaliro in 4:37 and Josh Larson pinned Caleb Billick of Xavier in 1:33. Levi Parkevich and Jarrett Wilson each won matches by forfeit against Xavier.
Jackson Kelley picked up a win by fall over Tristan Wirfs of Mt. Vernon in 1:08 and won again against Dillon Wagner of Mediapolis, pinning the Bulldog in 4:31.
Against Marion, Alex Lanphier pinned Caleb Conway in 1:38; Rob Pohren pinned Colin Conway in 3:51 and Larson won by major decision over Nick Kramer, 9-0.
The Panthers are scheduled to host Louisa-Muscatine tonight (Tuesday) at 6:30 p.m.
