Leslie Taylor, three Tigers named to all-district teams
Four area diamond standouts were chosen to Iowa Girls Coaches Association All-District Softball Teams.
Leslie Taylor, Mt. Pleasant senior outfielder, was a Class 4A Southeast Iowa selection. New London sophomore pitcher Morgan Christner was joined on the Class 1A Southeast Iowa team by teammates, senior outfielder Sami Koontz and junior catcher Emily Parks.
The players were chosen by members of the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.
Taylor, a five-year starter, hit .403 for the Panthers from her leadoff spot. She scored 37 runs, smacked six doubles and four triples and stole 47 bases for the 16-24 Panthers.
Christner was a force for the Tigers both on the mound and at the plate. She logged a 25-4 mound mark with a 0.84 earned-run average. In 175 innings pitched, she gave up 84 hits and struck out 257 hitters. The third hitter in the 25-5 Tiger batting order, Christner batted .430 with three homers.
Koontz hit .526 on the season, swiping 32 bases and never being thrown out. She also scored 40 Tiger runs.
Parks hit at a .423 clip for New London. She ripped six doubles, two triples and a homer and was 20-21 in stolen-base attempts.
