Lloyd E. Harris, 84, Mt. Union, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at Sunrise Terrace Care Center in Winfield.
Visitation is to be held from 1 until 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, at Elliott Chapel with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Elliott Chapel with the Rev. Danny Rohr officiating. Burial with military honors by the Henry County Honor Guard, will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
Born Sept. 5, 1928, in Mt. Pleasant, he was the son of Wayman and Mary (Cooper) Harris. He was a 1946 graduate of New London High School. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. On Oct. 7, 1955, he married Oneta Rae Rairden. She preceded him in death.
He was a propane salesman for Prairie Ag Co-Op in Mt. Union for many years. After retiring, he drove a school bus for the Winfield-Mt. Union School District. He received a service award for his many years on the Mt. Union City Council. He enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, farming, fishing and hunting.
Survivors include two daughters, Debra (Dan) Marg of Neillsville, Wis., and Connie (Craig) Ross of Winfield; two sons, Andy (Jacki) Harris of Ames, and George Harris of Mt. Union; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Wanda Smith of West Point, and Mary Lou Oliver of Burlington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Richard Smith; his wife; and brother, Leon Harris.
