Mainline paving completed on large section of Grand Avenue
All the mainline paving has been completed on Grand Avenue from the color crosswalk on the north side of Mapleleaf Drive to to 500 feet north of the Baker Street intersection.
The pouring has been completed just in time for the July 4 break as there will be no work on the project from the afternoon of July 3 until the morning of Monday, July 8.
DeLong Construction of Washington, the general contractor for the project, will be concentrating on the area from Mapleleaf south to the railroad overpass with removal of pavement and installation of storm sewer pipe and intakes through July 8.
The Grand-Mapleleaf intersection will be open to east-west traffic from the afternoon of July 3 until the morning on July 8.
Crews will be closing the intersection to east-west traffic on July 8 to complete removals and grading of the intersection. The intersection will be closed approximately a week while crews finish installing engineering fabric and granular sub-base rock.
Late last week, the paving crew began setting string-line trimming and re-enforcing steel in the area from 500 feet north of Baker Street to the south side of Winfield Avenue. The area will be paved on July 8, weather permitting.
