Mainline paving to begin Aug. 8
Pavng of mainline on Grand Avenue between south of Mapleleaf Drive to the railroad overpass is now scheduled to begin Aug. 8 and will take about a day to complete (weather permitting), according to Warner Engineering Associates Inc. of Mt. Pleasant, the engineering firm for the reconstruction project.
Mike Nelson Concrete, a subcontractor, began pouring the sidewalk and walking trail between Mapleleaf and Baker Street Aug. 1. The firm is working on the sidewalk and trail while waiting for the sub-base to be placed, trimmed and steel placed on the main line.
Tentative plans, according to the engineering firm, are opening the Mapleleaf and Grand intersection by Aug. 16.
The opening of Grand from Monroe Street to Mapleleaf is dependent upon the sewer equipment’s arrival time.
Finally, DeLong Construction is backfilling and cleaning up Mapleleaf Drive to the north of Baker.
