Mary A. Boal
Mary A. Boal, 85, of Mt. Pleasant, died on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, in Iowa City.
Visitation will begin at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017, at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m., that evening. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, Feb. 9, at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Jim Stiles and Rev. Jason Holtgrewe officiating. Private burial will be held in Finley Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be given to the Finley Chapel UMC, Finley Cemetery Association, and Guegler Group Home (a division of Hope Haven). Online condolences may be directed to www.olsonpowell.com.
Boal was born on June 11, 1931, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Guy Maurice and Wilma Lydia Seberg Eubank. She attended Crawford Country School and graduated from Olds High School in 1948. She attended the University of Iowa for one year. On Jan. 14, 1951, she was united in marriage to W. Dean Boal at Finley Chapel UMC. He preceded her in death.
She worked as a secretary for Central States Insurance, Iowa Wesleyan College, and Swedesburg Lutheran Church from which she retired after 18 years.
She was a member of Finley Chapel.
She enjoyed reading, history, flowers, music, and spending time with her friends and family.
Boal is survived by four children, Amy (Paul) Eiserman, of Mundelein, Ill., Jean (Kim) Holtgrewe, of Mt. Pleasant, Valerie Boal, of Burlington, and Rosemary (Steve) Burnett, of Oskaloosa; a sister, Norma J. Rodgers, of Mt. Pleasant; nine grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Michael D. Boal; and a sister, Alice M. Hawbaker.
