Mary Lou Myers
Mary Lou Myers, 83, Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Park Place Elder Living.
Visitation will begin after 12 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 16, at the Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Eric Twietmeyer officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to Iowa Hospice or First United Methodist Church. The daughter of Ralph Wilson and Fern Naomi (Short) Lee, she was born on June 8, 1929 in Mt. Pleasant. She grew up in rural Danville and graduated in 1946 as her class salutatorian from New London High School. On April 17, 1948, she married Lloyd Arthur Myers.
She worked as a bookkeeper at the Danville Elevator. She helped her husband with the family farm for many years while also working at Farm Bureau. She later did the bookkeeping for the P.E.O. Home.
She was a member of Pleasant Hill Church and participated in the Good Samaritan Society. She later joined the First United Methodist Church where she belonged to the United Methodist Women and Grace Circle. She volunteered at the Methodist Church Midwest Old Threshers Food Tent and in the gift shop for the HCHC Auxiliary. She was a member of Chapter NZ of P.E.O. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and was a seamstress.
Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte (Steve) Powers of Chino Hills, Calif., and Beverly Jo (Ken) Bauer of Waterloo; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ron (Jessica) Lee of Roosevelt, Utah.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband; two brothers, Frank Lee and William Lee; and a sister, Marlys Thomas.
