Mildred A. “Millie” Nelson
Mildred A. “Millie” Nelson, 70, of West Burlington, died on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m., with the family to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016, at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home. The funeral service for Nelson will be held at 11 a.m., on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home, with Rev. Dean Graber officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society and Young’s Lake. Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements. Nelson was born on April 5, 1946, in El Reno, Okla., the daughter of George B. and Rita Dora Rothlauf Jayne. On Feb. 17, 1995, she married Steven Craig Nelson, in West Burlington.
She was a secretary at the IAAP for 45 years. She retired in 2016.
She was of the Baptist faith, and attended Calvary Baptist Church and Riverside Baptist Church.
She enjoyed camping, going to Young’s Lake on the weekends to fish, baking cookies, and spending time with her family, grandkids and friends in Mississippi.
Nelson is survived by her husband; one son, Charles (Beth) Pfadenhauer, of Picayune, MS; one step-daughter, Sulene Nelson, of Burlington; two grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Weyrick of Danville; Gina (Dan) Stokes, of Omro, Wisc.; Holly (Rick) Parrott, of Danville; and one brother, Tim (Chris) Jayne, of Mt. Pleasant.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a step-father; and one granddaughter.
