Mildred Beckler, 84, of Noble, died on Friday, Dec. 30, 2016, at her home.
Visitation was held on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017, 2 to 5 p.m., at Bethel Mennonite Church, north of Wayland. Funeral services began at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, at Bethel Mennonite Church, with Rev. Curt Kuhns officiating.
Burial was in Bethel Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be determined at a later date. Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, of Mt. Pleasant, is assisting the family. Online condolences may be directed to www.olsonpowell.com.
Beckler was born on Feb. 20, 1932, in rural Wayland, the daughter of Jacob “Jake” and Mayme Leichty Unternahrer. She was a 1950 graduate of Wayland High School. On Sept. 21, 1952, she married Delmar F. Beckler, at Sugar Creek Mennonite Church. He preceded her in death.
She cleaned homes and apartments in Mt. Pleasant, and worked at Metromail. For over 20 years, she worked at Crane Manufacturing, in Washington, before retiring in the late 1980’s.
She was a member of Bethel Mennonite Church.
She enjoyed gardening, quilting, cross stitching, singing, doing word find puzzles, and spending time with her family.
Beckler is survived by four children, Ardith (Tom) Frees, of Riverside; Dean (Crystal) Beckler, of Crawfordsville; Sharon (Steve) Blakley, of Wayland; and Beverly Elmore, of Albia; and six siblings, Daniel (Annabelle) Unternahrer, of Shipshewana, Ind., Harold Unternahrer, of Wayland, John (Phianna) Unternahrer, of Wayland, Clarence (Linda) Unternahrer, of Ainsworth, Edna Beckler, of Kalispell, Mon., and Ruth Kaufman, of Lebanon, Ore.; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Duane Beckler; and two brothers, Ralph Unternahrer and Edward Unternahrer, who died in infancy.
