MP bests Washington
The Mt. Pleasant eighth-grade girls’ basketball team claimed a win at Washington on Thursday night, 34-28.
The Panthers led the whole way, led by Bailey Johnson and Rylee Amos, who had 10 points each.
Sarah Moffett added eight points. Allison Buchert scored three, Genna Cristoforo added two and Kirstin Fry had one point.
Mt. Pleasant is now 2-3 on the season.
The seventh-grade boys’ team hosted Washington on Thursday.
The “A” team defeated the Dmeons, 55-44. Jordan Magnani had 15 points and Kieran Kohorst added 10.
In the “B” game, Mt. Pleasant won by a score of 22-17. Kyle Medina, Garin Crane, Kyle Vanderham, Nick Steffens and Austin Buckert each had four points.
The Panthers fell to Washington in the “C” game, 14-4. Aaron Scarff had three points for the Panthers.
Earlier this week, the seventh-grade boys played Ottumwa. They won the A game, 48-26; they lost the B and C games by scores of 18-17 and 10-4, respectively.
Brady Sartorius lead all scorers in the A game with 21 points. Nick Steffens was the high scorer in the B game with eight points. Macoy Matthews and Payton Butterbaugh each had two points in the C game.
