MP defeats Bulldogs, Demons
The eighth-grade boys’ basketball team defeated Washington in the “A” game last week, and then the Panthers came up with two wins and a tie at Ottumwa on Monday.
The Panthers’ A team defeated Ottumwa by a score of 35-26, led by Ryan Moutrie’s 12 points. Zach Ebeling scored nine, while Brock Wilson and Patrick Canby each tallied six points.
The Panthers also won the “B” game, 28-16. Spencer Braun paced Mt. Pleasant with six points, while Nolan Quade and Jack Pieper each scored five.
The “C” teams tied at Ottumwa, each scoring 13 points. Jared Holdefer scored nine points for Mt. Pleasant.
Last week at Washington, the A team won by a score of 31-25, led by Canby’s 11 points. Wilson scored nine points and Moutrie chipped in five.
The Mt. Pleasant B team lost to Washington, 27-18.
Dustin Mitchell scored a team-high nine points in the loss and Tyler Davis contributed four.
In the C game, Washington outscored Mt. Pleasant, 15-2. Reece McNamee had the Panthers’ two points.
The teams will play again Thursday at Fairfield, starting at 4:30 p.m.
