MP eighth-grade football falls to Washington
The Mt. Pleasant eighth-grade football team dropped a pair of games to Washington on Oct. 1. The Panthers were shut out in the “A” game by a score of 39-0 and lost a close “B” game by a score of 14-12.
In the A game, Brady Sartorius went 12-for-21 passing for 75 net yards and rushed 15 times for 54 yards.
Colin Mulford had six catches for 38 yards and Maison Ashton had four receptions for 29 yards.
Isaac Kuster gained 28 yards on six rushing attempts.
Defensively, Ashton and Payton Kelly had six tackles each, while Colby Potts had five and Tanner Ruby had four tackles.
In the B game, Keegan Rich gained 45 rushing yards on 11 attempts and ran for a touchdown. Rich also had one passing touchdown.
Joseph Coberly made four catches, including a touchdown reception, and picked up 58 receiving yards on the night.
Defensively, the Panthers were led by Coberly with five tackles. Dalton Smith had four and Luke Van Nyhuis had three.
Mason Pounsavan had an interception, while Briton Ensminger and Bergen Ensminger each recovered a fumble.
The Panthers play again tonight (Tuesday) when they host Ottumwa.
