MP football players receive awards at annual banquet
The Mt. Pleasant football team had its annual end-of-season banquet on Monday night, to recognize the people involved with this year’s season — not only the players, but everyone from coaches to volunteers to parents to the ball boys, Cooper Pullis and Brevin Wilson.
Players received varsity letters, district awards and special awards, as chosen by teammates and coaches.
Special award winners are pictured. Not pictured is Colten Mertens, who won the Panther Award.
The Brotherhood Award was created this year to honor players who, despite suffering season-ending injuries, continued to show up to practice and serve as “big brothers,” mentoring and helping their teammates.
Academic awards were also announced. Eight players received the MP Scholar Award, which is given to players who have a “B” (3.0 grade point average) or better in every class for the quarter. Panther football players who received the award were Kallin Crile, Jordan Nichting, Keegan Pullis, Jackson Kelley, Rob Pohren, Justin Dilks, Josh Larson and Carson Remick.
