MP freshman boys’ basketball defeats Washington, 51-41
The Mt. Pleasant freshman boys’ basketball team went 1-2 in three games played over four days, claiming a win over Washington to start Friday’s conference tripleheader.
The Panthers lost to Mid-Prairie, 46-30, on Monday.
Over the weekend, the Panthers defeated the Demons 51-41, and then fell to Burlington, 59-55, on Saturday.
The Panthers fell behind early in Monday’s game against Mid-Prairie, going down 17-5 in the first quarter. They trailed 29-18 at halftime and couldn’t close the gap in the last two quarters.
Dshundric Foster and Brock Wilson paced the Panthers with 10 points apiece.
Alex Warren scored six for Mt. Pleasant. Trevor Mabeus had three points and Ryan Moutrie scored one.
In Saturday’s game, the Panthers trailed by just one point at halftime, 26-25, but Burlington maintained its advantage in the second half for the win.
Foster and Moutrie had 14 points each and Zach Ebeling was also in double figures with 12 points.
Alex Warren scored nine and Brock Wilson chipped in six points.
In Friday’s win over Washington, the Panthers held an 11-6 lead after the first quarter and were up 26-14 at the break.
The Panthers stretched their lead to 20 points by the end of the third quarter, 45-25.
Washington made up some ground in the final quarter of the game, but couldn’t overtake the Panthers.
Foster scored a team-high 17 points and Wilson had 10 points.
Moutrie and Ebeling scored eight points each, and Alex Warren added six. Zion Jordan chipped in two points.
The team is now 2-3 on the season and will host Fairfield on Friday, starting at 4:45 p.m.
