The Mt. Pleasant freshman girls’ basketball team defeated Burlington last weekend but lost to Washington this week, bringing their overall season record to 3-3.

Against Burlington on Saturday, the Panthers won by a score of 41-32.

They were down, 25-19, at halftime, but a 16-3 run in the third quarter lifted them over the Greyhounds.

Carolyn Lutovsky scored 17 points to lead the Panthers.

Haley Booton added 10 points. Megan Shumacher scored seven and Ally Davis put up five points. Morgan Fraise chipped in two.

Lutovsky also led the team with 13 rebounds to finish with a double-double. Delayna Cotton grabbed five boards. Shumacher pulled down four while Booton and Davis had two each.

Against Washington, the Panthers didn’t fare as well, falling in a 36-25 decision.

Booton put up seven points while Jade Kennedy and Lutovsky scored six each. Cotton tallied three points, Fraise contributed two, and Shumacher scored one.

In rebounds, Lutovsky and Shumacher grabbed four each. Cotton pulled down three, while Davis and Kennedy had two each. Tabitha Liechty had one rebound.

Due to low numbers at Iowa City Regina, the freshman game there on Saturday was cancelled.

They play again when they open a freshman/JV/varsity tripleheader on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
