MP girls compete at UNI
CEDAR FALLS — The Mt. Pleasant girls’ track and field team competed at the Dickinson Relays at the University of Northern Iowa on Monday night, wrapping up their indoor season.
Grace Lutovsky and Hannah Becker were among the high jumpers at the meet who finished at 4-10. Tie-breakers put Lutovsky in fourth place, while Becker took seventh.
Becker also came home with a fifth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.62.
In sixth place was the 4x800-meter relay team of Natalie Ita, Taryne Shull, Natalie Myers and Chloe Haffarnan. They finished their race in a time of 10:14.23.
Haffarnan and Shull also competed in the 4x400-meter relay, along with Lutovsky and Becker. They placed 11th with a time of 4:25.84.
Another 11th-place finish came from Ita in the open 800; she ran a time of 2:34.66.
Some of the Panther athletes who are often placewinners did not attend the meet. Leslie Taylor, Kelsi Phipps and Mary Wester did not compete.
The Mt. Pleasant girls will be back on the track next week (March 26) when they open their outdoor season at the Iowa City High Relays.
