MP girls' cross-country adds freshmen, juniors
The Mt. Pleasant girls’ cross-country team is a growing group.
Coach Jean Caboth has 18 signed up for the high school team after adding some talented freshmen and a few juniors who want to try the sport for the first time.
The team started practice last week, but had a lot of runners missing due to participation in the state fair.
“This week is much better — we’ve had much better attendance,” Caboth said. “The freshmen are coming around, and the new juniors are getting the hang of it.”
Caboth expects that juniors and seniors will make up most of the varsity team, but that a couple freshman stand a good chance of running in the top seven.
The Panthers begin their season at Williamsburg on Sept. 3. They run their home meet three weeks later, on Sept. 24.
