MP Library director receives state certification
Mt. Pleasant Public Library Director Jeffrey Meyer has completed all requirements for public librarian certification, according to a press release from the State Library of Iowa.
The purpose of the Iowa Certification Program for public librarians is to improve library service to Iowans by developing the skills of public library staff members.
“Librarians completing the Certification Program are to be congratulated,” said State Librarian Mary Wegner. “Such dedication and commitment by the local library and librarian are essential to the provision of high quality public library service in Iowa.”
Certification is a voluntary program. To receive a certificate, individuals must meet certain work experience and/or educational requirements.
Certificates are valid for three years. Recertification requires a participant to complete an additional 45 hours of continuing education every three years.
