MP Middle School will be participating in active shooter, ALICE training Aug. 12Former mayor presents ciizens' petition requiring audit
The Mt. Pleasant Middle School will be participating in active shooter and ALICE training on Monday, Aug. 12.
ALICE is an acronym for alert, lockdown, inform, counter and evacuate, which are instructions for when there is an active shooter in a building.
The training scenarios will be from noon to 4 p.m. There will be three to four scenarios.
There will be safety briefs at noon and 2 p.m. If a student or member of the school staff is not present for the briefing, they will not be able to participate. Those who miss the first briefing at noon will have to wait until the second briefing at 2 p.m.
Members of the staff, as well as students, will be participating as actors in the training scenarios and will be wearing colored vests to avoid confusion.
This training is for students to practice the ALICE training they received last year and for law enforcement officers to learn how to better respond to an active shooter situation.
For any questions or concerns, contact Lt. Lyle Murray at the Mt. Pleasant Police Department, 319-385-1450.
