MP seventh-grade football downs Demons
The Mt. Pleasant seventh-grade football “A” team defeated Washington 16-0 and the “B” team won by a score of 12-6 over the Demons on Oct. 1.
Tucker Johnson scored on a 5-yard run for the Panthers’ first score in the A game, and the pass to Rhett Zeglin was good for the two-point conversion.
Zeglin caught a 23-yard pass for the Panthers’ other score, and the two-point conversion pass to Chase Lamm was good to give Mt. Pleasant a 16-0 lead in the fourth quarter.
Quarterback Zach Beason finished 7-for-10 passing on the day for 61 yards and a touchdown.
Zeglin had 33 receiving yards and Levi Puig had 23 yards in the air.
Johnson finished with 45 rushing yards on the day and Lamm had 28.
The Panthers scored first in the B game on a 20-yard run by Jeremiah Miles for a 6-0 lead in the first quarter, and Washington tied it with a touchown in the third quarter.
Mt. Pleasant took back the lead for good in the final quarter of the game on a 30-yard run by Miles, who led the team in rushing on the day.
Bryce Anderson was 1-for-4 passing for 13 yards; Kalib Wilson caught the 13-yard pass.
The Mt. Pleasant seventh-graders will travel to Ottumwa tonight (Tuesday).
