MP trap team wins in Ottumwa
Mt. Pleasant trapshooting teams took first and third place when they competed at the Ottumwa Izaak Walton League’s Scholastic Clay Target Program meet on Saturday, April 5, against 13 other schools.
Mt. Pleasant’s Panther Varsity Squad 2 took first place with a score of 221, and Panther Varsity Squad 1 wasn’t far behind, with a score of 219 for third place.
Indianola Squad 1 slipped in between with a score of 220 for second.
A total of 325 shooters participated in the meet. Along with the Mt. Pleasant and Indianola athletes, there were competitors from Albia, Ankeny, Ankeny Centennial, CAM, Centerville, Ft. Madison, Grinnell, Knoxville, Montezuma, North Mahaska, Pella and Pella Christian.
Three Panthers were in the top five of the girls’ individual competition. Emma Ludwig took first and Ashley Hummell took second, each with a score of 45. Alyssa Smith was fourth with a score of 42.
In the junior high girls’ individual competition, Mt. Pleasant’s Kinsey Bruggemeyer was fourth with a score of 34.
