Mt. Pleasant 8th-grade boys win Don Taft relays
The Mt. Pleasant eighth-grade boys’ track team scored 150 points to win its home meet, the Don Taft Relays, at Mapleleaf Athletic Complex last week. The Panthers’ closest competition in the team standings had 91 points.
Mt. Pleasant was led by the first place shuttle hurdle relay team of Cole Burns, Jordan Magnani, Keagan Rich and Colin Mulford.
The Panthers also got wins from Brady Sartorius in the 400-meter dash and in the 200-meter dash, from Jonathan Ita in the high jump, from Rich in the 200-meter hurdles and the 10-flight hurdles, and from the 800-meter medley team of Burns, Mason Pounsavan, Jake Lowe and Tanner Ruby.
Second-place finishes for the Panthers came from Sartorius in the 100-meter dash, Ita in the 1,600-meter run, Mulford in the 10-flight hurdles and 200-meter hurdles and the 4x400-meter relay team of Burns, Ita, Lowe and Ruby.
Ruby took third in the 400, and Kyle Vanderham was third in the 800.
Fourth-place finishes for Mt. Pleasant came from Lowe in the 100, Jeremy Reynolds in the 200, Ruby in the high jump and the 4x100 team of Pounsavan, Jermaine Miles, Maison Ashton and Reynolds.
The 4x200 team of Ashton, Keiran Kohorst, Magnani and Miles took fifth, and Mulford took sixth place in the high jump.
The Panther team will compete again at Keokuk on Tuesday.
