Mt. Pleasant boys’ golf places fourth at 18-team tourney
The Mt. Pleasant boys’ golf team placed fourth of 18 teams at the Moravia Tournament on Thursday.
They played the Reserve Golf Course, which is the same place they’ll play for their sectional meet.
The Panthers scored 326, behind only Prairie City-Monroe (308), Des Moines Christian (318) and Centerville (318).
They were led by Kiley Miller and Kyle Kauffman, each of whom shot an 82. Miller shot two nine-hole rounds of 41, while Kauffman shot a 39 and a 43.
Quinn Daniel and Jordon Phomsouvandara each shot an 86 to round out the team score.
Jacob Smith completed the course in 95 strokes, and Collin Baccam — playing on varsity for the first time in place of the injured William Kinney — scored a 110.
The team is now 21-8 on the season.
“We had a great day,” Coach Jamy Ball said. “Right now, we’re in good position (for sectionals).”
They play today at Mt. Pleasant Golf and Country Club, hosting Keokuk at 4 p.m. Saturday, they travel to Fairfield for another tournament, starting at 8:30 a.m.
