Mt. Pleasant fifth at home meet
The Mt. Pleasant seventh-grade girls’ track and field team finished fifth as a team at its home meet on Monday afternoon, led by three individual second-place finishes.
Maddie Williamson was the runner-up in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing in a time of 19.17 seconds.
In the 200-meter hurdles, Makayla Cam placed second in a time of 34.31 seconds.
The Panthers’ final silver-medal finish came from Grace Bittle in the shot put with a throw of 20-9 1/2.
Bittle also had a third-place finish on the day with a mark of 51-2 in discus.
Three Mt. Pleasant relay teams finished third as well.
The 4x800-meter relay team of Monica Moyle, Hannah Hess, Hallie Sandeen and Kristen Epperson finished in 13:24.60 for a bronze medal, and the 1,600-meter medley team of Kelsey Notestein, Elizabeth Litchfield, Cam and Abby Smith was third in 5:34.50.
The 4x200-meter relay team of Williamson, Litchfield, Notestein and Shaleen Thiengmany was third in 2:15.94.
Finishing in fourth place for the Panthers was the 4x400-meter relay team of Cam, Thiengmany, Smith and Williamson in a time of 5:14.86.
The sprint medley team of Epperson, Johnna Eads, Sandeen and Litchfield was fifth in 2:33.63, and the 4x100-meter relay team of Cara Canby, Epperson, Sandeen and Litchfield was sixth in 1:07.72.
Two individuals also placed sixth at the home meet: Williamson in the shot put with a throw of 20-1, and Cam in the long jump with a mark of 11-5 1/2.
Next up for the Panthers is a meet at Ottumwa on Tuesday, April 22.
