Mt. Pleasant man arrested following incident in Oakland Mills area
A Mt. Pleasant man was arrested on several charges Thursday evening following an altercation in the Oakland Mills area.
David Messer, 58, has been charged with two counts of assault causing injury, one count of assault with a dangerous weapon, going arms with intent and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Messer is being held in the Henry County Jail on a $14,000 bond pending his initial appearance.
According to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, the office received a 911 call at approximately 8:25 p.m. June 5 that a subject had allegedly assaulted two subjects in the Oakland Mills area. The subject also allegedly attempted to strike an individual with a vehicle, causing a two-vehicle accident. The subject was reported using a shotgun and threatening another subject.
The Henry County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Iowa State Patrol and the Mt. Pleasant Police Department.
