Mt. Pleasant’s Bailey Roth to be football manager at Iowa State
When she attends Iowa State in the fall, Mt. Pleasant’s Bailey Roth intends to start working toward an animal science/pre-vet degree. But she’d like to spend her spare time on the football field.
The Mt. Pleasant Community High School senior has been a football team manager for six years, and she didn’t really want to give it up.
So when she decided to go to Iowa State, she also decided that she wanted to be a part of the school’s football program.
“I’ve been (managing) since seventh grade, and it’s a lot of fun,” Roth said.
Roth approached MPCHS Athletic Director Bob Jensen, who gave her contact information for the Iowa State coaching staff.
She was invited to tour the facilities — a tour that also functioned as her interview. Soon after, she was offered the position.
“I will be assigned to a specific coach, and help with whatever needs to be done at practice,” Roth said. “But I’m really looking foward to going to the football games and being on the sidelines,” She said — espeically the Iowa vs. Iowa State game.”
Roth said she’s learned everything she knows about football from her brother, Brayden, who played at Mt. Pleasant. Now, she’ll get to learn everything about Iowa State football. She’s already gotten a head start.
“I started becoming a fan when I decided I wanted to go there, about two or three years ago,” she said.
