Mt. Pleasant’s Cotton recognized on preseason All-Big 10 team
IOWA CITY — Four members of the University of Iowa football team have been named to Athlon Sports’ Preseason All-Big Ten team, including first team selection and Mt. Pleasant native Jordan Cotton.
Linebacker James Morris (second team/defense), place kicker Mike Meyer (second team/kicker) and offensive lineman Brandon Scherff (third team/offense) also earned preseason accolades from Athlon Sports, according to the Iowa Hawkeye football team website.
Cotton, a senior wide receiver and kick return specialist, led the Big Ten last season and ranked 14th nationally in kickoff returns, averaging 28.2 yards in 19 attempts. He had a 92-yard kickoff return against Penn State, which ties as the 10th longest return in program history, and was a first team All-Big Ten kick returner by CollegeSportsMadness.com last season. He also had 12 receptions for 172 yards and a touchdown in 2012.
