Mt. Pleasant shut out by Ottumwa
The Mt. Pleasant girls’ soccer team lost a 2-0 decision against Ottumwa on Thursday in a nonconference match at East Lake Park.
The game was close the whole way.
The Big Reds had both of their goals in the first half, and the Panthers held them scoreless through the last 40 minutes.
Mt. Pleasant had plenty of chances to get on the board, but shots were just off the mark.
“Both (Ottumwa) goals came off set pieces after a foul and a hand ball,” Coach Brennan Williams said. “(We had) numerous opportunities that went just wide or hit the post.”
Megan Myers led the Panthers with five shots, two on goal.
Mt. Pleasant is now 0-2, and next up for the team is Monday’s Southeast Conference opener. The Panthers travel to play the match at Fairfield.
